Lunya | Tapas in Liverpool

A Taste of Catalonian Deli Food at Lunya, Liverpool City Centre

Updated December 2017

Formerly College Lane, Liverpool. Now in a stunning, larger location on Hannover Street. Home to fine Spanish food, wine and Sangria. If you like Tapas, Lunya is a great place for you to enjoy some of the tastiest Spanish ingredients you’d usually need to travel to España to experience!

The restaurant started from humble beginnings. Peter and Elaine Kinsella have built Lunya from the ground up. Putting every ounce of their love for Spanish food and culture into it. This place has transformed Liverpool’s Spanish scene and has won several awards. With another location in Manchester, the sky is the limit for Lunya.

But why is it doing so well? You can really see the pride this family take in their business. From the service to the deli to the restaurant and the quality of food, it is apparent everywhere.

Whether it be an evening meal or a lunch/brunch; tapas has always been a great way to eat. You can choose as many or as little dishes as you like and they arrive when they are ready, leaving you time to enjoy the food in front of you, and the company you are with. The tapas here is some of the best we’ve had in the UK.

Tapas is a great way for you to enjoy a meal as a couple, or a family as it’s really great to share! Let the Catalan and Spanish sourced ingredients take you to the Mediterranean, the croquetas being particularly good.

A great range of food and drink is available for you to indulge on; as a lunch 3 dishes for each person was the perfect amount. Sharing all the different tastes and flavours is a great weekend brunch experience. As an evening meal a little bit more and you’ll be more than satisfied.

The food is not the only amazing thing here. The drinks menu has a fantastic range of traditional Spanish tipples, wines, spirits and not so traditional cocktails! On this occasion we particularly enjoyed the superb range of Spanish brandy on offer; heated to taste of course. The Sangria was also a refreshing reminder of hot and delightful Spanish holidays.

How to get to Lunya Liverpool

Located on Hannover St it’s in an ideal central location in town to reach from public transport. Train links to all over Merseyside are available from Liverpool Central just 50 metres or so up the road. In addition, the Liverpool One bus station and the car park is around 50-100 metres in the opposite direction down the hill.

All in all, Lunya is a great eating out experience in Liverpool if a little pricey. It’s certainly recommended to try and wonderful for a special occasion! See where else we have been eating in Liverpool
