So, what’s the best way to grab people’s attention with this type of post?

If you can, look to create short, snappy videos within your niche that capture a viewers attention within the first two seconds. Maybe you have already worked on some for your travel blog that you can use.

If not, take a look at what the big players in your topic are doing. Cater something similar based on the time and budget you have available. For example, for travel bloggers, take your Go Pro away with you and do some experimental shooting! Not only is it incredibly fun, it gives you excellent content to share on Facebook.

Use the Facebook page insights tool.  This is a vital piece of kit that informs you how well you are performing. It also gives you handy data-driven hints on how to improve.

A great example would be having a look at the “posts” tab on the insights menu. This section gives you data on how well your individual posts are performing. Great and useful to determine what is working well and what isn’t. To add an extra layer of usefulness though you can also see best posting times on this page. Right at the top you will see a graph of active users throughout the week, and when the most of your fans are online!

Add Call to Action Statements in Posts

A call to action is a powerful thing online. Simply put, it is a piece of text that encourages a specific response from the reader. Whether that be “sign up for our newsletter” or “tag a mate”, it is proven this can increase engagement on social media posts.

How often do you scroll through your news feed and see a post which says “@j has to buy you this” or “tag a mate who…”? There is a reason this kind of messaging is used on posts. Because it works. Provided your call to action statement is relevant to the post and the post is interesting enough, you might just go viral and increase Facebook likes just from that one post.

Other calls to action statements that give you an edge are those that encourage reactions, rather than just likes. Facebook reactions being one of the five options you have other than liking a post. These are Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry. This is because there is a well-informed theory that emotional reactions, rather than just like, improve the reach of your post more on the news feed.

It sort of makes sense too. If a post is provoking more emotional response than just a standard “like” action, it must be more interesting!

    You have some good points on getting engagement. The best one is adding a Call To Action (CTA). Some people who have a little bit of marketing knowledge mistakenly think a CTA is “Buy this now” and nothing else. It literally is calling people to act, taking the action you’d prefer.
